15 Most Famous Slot Machines and Most Popular Slot Games

1. Liberty Bell

Invented and designed by a San Francisco mechanic named Charles Fey in 1895, the Liberty Bell is the first slot machine. The main symbols here include horseshoes, stars, spades, diamonds, hearts, and Liberty Bells. Once three bells are aligned, the machine pays 50 cents.
Having a coin slot at the top, it features small reels in the middle and a paytable at the bottom. It works like this - players insert a Nickel and pull a lever on the right-hand side to spin the reels. Although the Operator Bell and Liberty Bell have been removed from casinos, the original Liberty Bell on display can be seen in the Liberty Belle saloon in Reno, Nevada.

2. Lion's Share

One of the most famous slot machines, Microgaming’s classic slot Lion's Share, gained a lot of success back in 2014, due to news channels that discussed the topic on how Lion's Share's progressive jackpot hasn’t been hit for two decades. Thousands of people have tried but no one was lucky enough to pull it off.
Although the machine only featured 3 reels and only 1 payline, Lion’s Share has managed to become one of the most popular releases in Vegas, so popular that people waited in line just to put a coin into it and try spinning those reels.
Eventually, a New Hampshire couple hit the $2.4 million progressive jackpot in MGM’s Grand’s Lion’s Share. Soon after, MGM Grand made a decision to retire the Lion's Share machine since it required a lot of maintenance. Still, the game became part of slot history with a jackpot that took 20 years to win.

3. Megabucks

Created by IGT, Megabucks has managed to become one of the world's best progressive slot machines. The game is also responsible for numerous big wins throughout the entire jackpots’ history. Also known as the biggest money jackpots of all time, Megabucks slot machines are described as simple games with a massive progressive jackpot. One of the biggest wins was when an anonymous engineer won a staggering $39.7 million at Las Vegas' Excalibur, back in 2003.
As for the other big wins hit on this machine, there was a cocktail waitress Cynthia Jay Brennan who snagged an incredible $34.9 million at Vegas' Desert Inn, as well as a retired flight attendant hitting $27.5 million at Vegas' Palace Station. Johanna Huendl won $22.6 million whereas an Illinois businessman hit $21.3 million on the very first spin.
However, after winning the prize, one of the winner's family members had a tragic accident, which (as some believe) only supported the theory of a Megabucks curse. Other unfortunate stories are just believed to be urban legends, including anecdotes about underage players, as well as casino employees, being big winners but not being able to claim their jackpots because of specific state laws and regulation.

4. Wheel of Fortune

IGT’s Wheel of Fortune has proven to be the second most famous slot machine of all time. Featuring a bonus feature just like the real show, the slot machine is usually played by many slot fans and can be found in numerous casinos all over the globe. Although the game comes in more variations, probably the most popular one is still its 3-reel version, with a colourful wheel at the top.
The Wheel of Fortune multiplayer game features a bank of machines where every player gets their own screen. What makes the game even more exciting is the multiplayer edition where people can play the bonus round together, which really intensifies the game show aspect.
In a 5-reel Wheel of Fortune slot, however, Wild symbols will help players land winning combos and, if you’re lucky enough, you may get a Super Wild that will boost your win up to 5x! Last but not least, the Triple Action Bonus is activated by getting at least 3 Triple Action Bonus symbols anywhere on the reels. But still, none of the newer Wheel of Fortune slots measure up to the original one because of the large progressive jackpot involved.

The main symbols here include luxury cars, yachts, and expensive jewellery, Mega Fortune is an online slot machine game which justifies its theme that comes with the largest ever online slot jackpots.
The game offers a few different features that make the entire gameplay more fascinating, however, by far the most interesting ones are the 3 different progressive jackpots: Mega Jackpot, Major Jackpot and Rapid Jackpot. There are counters for all 3 of these that are displayed above the reels. Champagne is the Scatter and if you land at least 3 of them simultaneously, you will trigger Free Spins bonus round. Likewise, Wheel of Luck is the Bonus symbol, and if you land 3 or more symbols in succession from left to right on an active payline, you will activate the Bonus game.
What’s interesting about this slot is the fact that a Finnish man won a huge jackpot worth €17.8 million while spinning the reels of Mega Fortune. This record from 2013, has been passed by Mega Moolah, but the game is still proof how rich players can get after playing Mega Fortune.

6. Mega Moolah

9. Starburst

There’s no denying NetEnt’s Starburst slot became kinda legendary in the iGaming universe. With its dark background and shiny space looking gemstones, Starburst slot features 5 reels and 10 paylines. The well-known futuristic music in this release is also easily noticeable, as is the game’s expanding Wild.
More precisely, the Wilds may only occur on the reels 2, 3 and 4, and, once 1 or more wilds appear on those reels, the Starburst Wild feature will be activated. During this feature, Starburst wilds expand to cover the entire reel and remain while the other reels re-spin. Should a new wild land during a re-spin, it expands and stays along with any previously expanded Starbursts for another re-spin.
Another cool feature is that Starburst pays both ways, instead of only paying you for landing at least 3 identical symbols on adjacent reels starting with the reel furthest to the left. The maximum single spin payout for a person (betting the $200 maximum) is $100,000. But, in order for that to happen, you must land five bars on consecutive reels on an active payline. Likewise, landing 3 or more Scatters anywhere on the reels in this game, activates the Chamber of Spins feature which cannot be triggered during Wild Desire.

11. Gonzo’s Quest

Just like in other games, Wilds will help you win payouts as they are able to replicate most other symbols on the reels once a winning combination has been made. Another symbol you may want to keep your eyes on is a Money Wheel card. Once you manage to land at least 3 of them on your reels after a spin, the bonus game begins, and you spin a big wheel to choose a prize.

14. Quick Hit

And our selection wouldn’t be complete without Bally's Quick Hit slot. Featuring traditional Las Vegas symbols with sharp graphics and relaxed music, the video slot has 5 reels, 3 rows, and 30 paylines. Once you decide how many paylines you want to bet on, your gaming adventure can begin. There are Scatters symbols and three bonus games to benefit from.
The biggest payout here comes from landing the triple seven symbol. Should you land 5 of these lucky numbers on the reels at the same time, you will win 5,000 coins, whereas if you land five wild symbols, you’ll get 12,500 coins.
Those looking for hitting a jackpot should pay attention to Quick Hit Platinum symbols as 5 of these contribute to 5,000x players’ original bet amount – and even more, with the max bet activated. The second-highest jackpot can be hit by landing 9 Quick Hit Slot symbols. Both the Quick Hit Platinum and regular Quick Hit symbols must occur on or within one position of the first payline to be eligible for a jackpot win.

Fixing the Disney Star Wars trilogy

Let me start by saying my approach with this was changing each movie as little as possible, while trying to make the trilogy as a whole more cohesive and connect this trilogy to the previous 2. I see a lot of posts on here that claim they are fixing a movie, when they are really just writing a different one. I will preface this by saying I really liked The Force Awakens, I liked The Last Jedi, and I enjoyed The Rise of Skywalker. I apologize for the novel, this ended up taking much longer than I thought.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens
My changes to The Force Awakens are minimal. TBH, my changes are more about setting things up to pay them off later, and fixing complaints. The first is, I would keep Jakku a desert planet, but I would change it from a Middle East sand desert to an American South West rock desert. It would have a landscape closer to the American western. I would also change StarKiller base from a planet that can destroy 5 planets at once to a re-purposed Super Star destroyer with Death Star tech attached that can destroy a city. I think changing things visually would reduce the A New Hope comparisons. The main threat of the movie is they have to rescue Rey and destroy StarKiller Base before it blows up the Capital City of the Galaxy on Hosnian Prime.
Another small change I would make is combining the characters of General Hux and Captain Phasma. Whether it is still Gwendoline Christie or Domhnall Gleeson under the mask doesn't matter, but for the sake of this I will refer to General Phasma as she/her. Combining these characters doesn't negatively effect the story and will give us more time to do other things because we don't need to introduce 2 characters. Speaking of Phasma, another small change is switching the characters of FN-2199, who calls Finn a traitor, and General Phasma. Meaning, Finn fights General Phasma outside of Maz's Castle on Takodana and he gets FN-2199 to lower the shields on Starkiller Base.
Speaking of Finn, his character is the one I am changing the most. He is still the comic relief, but I would make him more like Drax in Guardians of the Galaxy or Wrecker in the latest Clone Wars arc. He is a bad ass elite fighter, top of his class, but realized on his first mission outside of the academy, the opening we saw in TFA, that he doesn't want to kill innocent people. To highlight him as an elite fighter I would make some small dialogue changes. When Finn and Poe escape, Finn never asks how to use the gun, Poe asks if he knows how, and Finn starts shooting with deadly accuracy. To show how bad ass Finn is, I would change the Rathtar scene. Mainly by eliminating the Rathtars. The guys from The Raid show up and threaten to capture Han and Chewie, all hope is lost until Rey notices Finn is gone. That's when we see Finn move around and take out the Kanjiklub's guys like some John Wick/Batman hybrid. Another complaint of Finn is they repeat his arc in TLJ, but I disagree. He never once cares about the Resistance in TFA, only Rey. To reinforce this, when he meets the 2 guys in Maz's Castle, he stays with them and leaves with them to their ship when The First Order lands. However, he only turns around and helps when he sees Kylo carrying Rey in his arms into his ship. Another thing I would change regarding Finn, is the scene on Starkiller Base where Han asks Finn his plan. Finn says he was never trained in computers, just in combat. Han lists off various Star Warsy sounding tech things asking if Finn knows how to use them. Finn says no, and that they'll use the force. Han says, "That's not how the force works." He never mentions working in sanitation, because as our elite fighter, he never worked in sanitation. The last thing I would change is the fight between Finn and Kylo on Starkiller base. When we first see Finn, he is wearing his Storm Trooper armor, and wears it throughout the movie, minus the helmet. It doesn't have to be the bright white armor, since 30 years has passed since the OT, the armor can be changed. He says he was on an undercover mission, and that's why he has it, but also says he continues to wear it for protection. It keeps him from getting hit by a blaster. People throughout the movie tell him that it hinders his mobility and to just take it off. When the fight between Finn and Kylo happens, Kylo hacks off Finn's arm cutting him in the forearm. Finn realizes the armor won't protect him in this fight. While the fight continues, Finn (screaming in pain) sheds off the armor fully abandoning his Storm Trooper ways. People wanted Rey or Kylo to lose and arm in this trilogy, but it doesn't make sense for them to. Luke lost his arm as a warning that he could become more machine like his father if he falls to the darkside. Anakin lost his arm to show he was losing his humanity. Kylo has already fallen to the darkside, there is no meaning to him losing an arm. Rey doesn't fall to the darkside, and if she lost an arm, she would only become more like Luke, a Jedi. So, I would change it up and have a non force user lose their arm to help drive their transformation. The robotic arm could also be used as a weapon in further movies to highlight Finn's badassness.

The Force Awakens was also lacking in politics. I would include a scene of Leia talking to the Senate asking for help. They can show the current state of the Galaxy that was set up in the books. The government is divided. Half the government wants a military, half doesn't. She says the First Order is a legitimate threat and they have financial backing, she assumes from Snoke. I would include Admiral Holdo here, maybe she can be against Leia, but we can see there is a clear respect for each other. When StarKiller base attacks, Holdo can be shown to realize she was wrong. Before Leia walks in the room to talk with the Senate we see what looks like a Leia Organa campaign postehologram with a stylized Vader helmet spray painted over Leia's face.
For the changes with Rey. When we first see her, she is asleep, and wakes up right after the scene where Kylo slaughters the village. Was it a vision? She woke up quick and seems distraught. When Kylo first sees Rey he says she is the one from his visions. They are connected somehow. I would also eliminate the "Force download". I would change the scene where Rey negotiates the portions with Unkar Plutt and make it seem like she is unknowingly using a Jedi mind trick on him to get more portions. However, we aren't 100% sure that's what happened. There is no hand wave. When she fights with her staff, it looks like she is fighting as if she has a double bladed lightsaber. Rey is using the force, she just doesn't know it. It's not until Han tells her the force is real and Kylo tells her he can feel the force flowing through her does she put everything together. As she puts it together, she hears a distant voice say, "Rey, these are your first steps."
We see at the end of the movie Rey and Poe meet. Poe introduces himself. Rey introduces herself. Poe asks her last name, and she says it's just Rey. Behind her we see Leia have a look of concern.
One small change I would make is "the map to Luke Skywalker" is referred to as a map "to the first Jedi temple" just as often, because that's what it is. That change is just to lessen confusion.
My final change to TFA is R2-D2, who has been nowhere to be seen. When BB-8 projects the map, he has the whole map. He doesn't need R2-D2 to show up out of nowhere for no real reason. However, when Rey meets Luke and extends the saber to him, as the camera pulls back, R2-D2 rolls up. R2 has been with Luke the whole time.

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi
Now, to make The Last Jedi connect more. First, I like the Canto Bight scene, but I would put it on Count Dooku's homeworld. There could be a big Dooku statue in the middle of Canto Bight. It doesn't have to be acknowledged by anyone, but it can be confirmed to be Dooku in the novelization or somewhere else. I think this would connect it more to the previous movies and add to the "lived in" feel. I respect Rian wanting to show us a new type of location in Star Wars, by showing us the upper crust of society. However, we needed more old stuff in there so it felt like Star Wars. It was a new location and new aliens so it felt too different. If we had Twi'leks as cocktail waitresses and Toydarians as Sabacc dealers, people would have felt that it fit better into the universe. I would also change the big hairy wart covered alien who threatens the kids to a Stormtrooper, to show Finn how far he has come. Also, when Maz sends them there, she is in a projected hologram, like every other long distance conversation we have ever seen in Star Wars, not on some weird screen. Also, her reason for not helping isn't because of trade disputes, it's because she is working on rebuilding her house/business that blew up a week ago. We also learn towards the end of the scene after they are on the ship DJ stole, that he lost his red palm bloom to the guy we see in the casino, and when he tried to steal it back he got thrown into the dungeon. So, DJ was always the guy they were supposed to find.
I would also change the Rashomon style story for when Ben destroyed the temple and left. I would not actually show the flashback until we saw the real version, I think this lead to some confusion with a lot of people thinking Luke went into Ben's room to kill him.
When Luke is training Rey about the force, she asks him about the voice she heard, and how to communicate with it. He is confused and she describes it. He says that while some fallen Jedi have learned how to reach out and communicate with the living, only the most powerful and balanced Jedi can reach out and hear the dead. Throughout the movie, Rey tries to reach out and hear the dead, but fails every time.
When Rey leaves Ahch-To, R2 goes with her and Chewbacca.
Also, after Kylo kills Snoke, during the fight between Finn and General Phasma (and ultimately kills her) we see a room open up. It's a sciency looking room full of thousands of tubes of various sizes filled with a mysterious liquid and maybe a solid mass inside if you squint hard enough.

Kylo reveals to Rey Snoke's origins and called him weak. He reveals Snoke was a clone of Plaguies that Palpatine made when he realized Vader had a son and it could cause Vader to turn to the light. Palpatine realized he might soon need another apprentice. Snoke thought himself to be the greatest of all of the clones because he was the first one of Palpatine's to be force sensitive. The rest were destroyed. Speaking of Snoke, he never says he bridged their minds and is intrigued by their connection.

With the Leia "flying" scene, the only change I would make is removing her actually flying. The bridge explodes, she goes out into space. We then see her floating in space, where her eyes open, and she starts to move. We then see Poe and everyone's reaction, and finally we see Leia's hand against the glass.

When Rey and Kylo meet up, Rey says she asked the cave who her parents were, but it didn't show her anyone, just herself. Kylo said he has seen her through visions her whole life, just as he assumes she has seen him. He says he saw her parents, and they were filthy junk traders.

Luke has the talk with Yoda, which changes his mind, he wants to help the people on Crait, but they are too far away. Yoda asks if he is giving up. Luke hesitates. Luke gives Yoda a weird look, as he looks him up and down.
Speaking of the people on Crait, I would have a line that the speeders the Resistance uses were used to tow equipment around. Instead of Rose crashing into Finn, she launches a tow cable onto Finn's speeder and pulls him out of the path of the cannon. They crash into each other. We have a similar scene to what we got, but maybe they shoot the kiss scene a few more times so it doesn't look so awkward.

With the scene where the rain from where Rey is being transported to Kylo, something from Kylo transports to Rey.

Before we see the scene with broom boy, there is a scene of Kylo Ren talking to a lower ranked First Order officer. Kylo tells him that Snoke would routinely travel deep into the unknown regions, Kylo wants to find out why.

Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker
This is the movie I am changing the most.
Let me start by saying that Finn isn't revealed to be force sensitive. Why? Because it's never important.
The opening scene is a space battle between the large Resistance Fleet and the First Order, which takes place about 2-3 years after TLJ. The Galaxy has responded to Luke's heroic action in the last movie. They are fighting in full force. The First Order is on their heels, and has been for months. The remaining First Order ships reveal their unstable Death Star tech cannons and destroy 90% of the Resistance's fleet. However, some of the First Order ships are blown up from the sheer power of their unstable canons. Our main heroes survive because of plot armor. Maybe we can kill someone like Wedge Antilles here. So we can feel a loss of life and that the battle was important. Also, it's clear Finn and Rose are together, maybe even married.

Meanwhile, Kylo Ren finds his way to Exogol, where Snoke has been travelling back and forth to. We see Exogol is a Gothic Industrial planet, filled with many factories, but still dark and creepy like what was in the movie we got. Palpatine reveals himself. Kylo Ren is confused, Palpatine is supposed to be dead. Palpatine says "the dark side is a pathway to many abilities that some consider to be unnatural." He learned from his master the ability to transfer his essence from one body to another. "First I tried to create a natural born vessel through more traditional means, but none were sensitive to the force. Then my master and I tried to manipulate the force to create a force sensitive vessel, but that plan backfired. I then tried to create a clone to transfer my essence into, but none of the clones had a connection to the force. So when my former apprentice Darth Vader killed me, the Sith acolytes that surround you now, performed a Sith ritual and transferred my essence into one of the only available clones. Since this weak body couldn't handle my dark side power it quickly began to deteriorate. My secret apprentice, Snoke, was tasked with continuing my clone project to make me a force sensitive body, but none of them were ever force sensitive, and the Resistance destroyed all of the clones on Snoke's ship." Palpatine then thanks Kylo for completing his mission of taking over the Galaxy with the First Order. Kylo is confused. Palpatine says the First Order was meant to conquer the Galaxy, now it is time for the Final Order to rule it. Hundreds of ships rise from the factories of Exogol.
Palpatine tells Kylo to bring him Rey and he will turn her to the dark side for him, so they can carry on his legacy, and they can rule his Galaxy together as Emperor and Empress. Kylo asks why would she do that. Cut to next scene. Kylo Ren, the Supreme Leader, makes a Galaxy wide announcement on the holonet that Palpatine is not dead and the Final Order is now the true government, any person or planet that doesn't see it that way will be destroyed.

Now, the First Order out numbers the Resistance. It was 250ish Resistance ships vs 50 First Order Ships. Now it's like 25 Resistance Ships ships vs 40 First Order Ships + whatever the Final Order has. Leia tasks Finn, Poe, and Rey to travel the galaxy and get the help they need.

Finn, Poe, Chewie and Rey have to go recruiting. They go from planet to planet, convincing the leadership to fight. We see them talk to the Quarren, the Gungans, Lando, whatever is available on Mandalor, the people of Canto Bight, the Noobians. This is basically a tour of the first 8 movies. The people are scared. They are scared of Palpatine, they are scared of the Final Order, and the Star Destroyers that have appeared in the atmosphere of key planets. They heard what happened to the Resistance. While our new trio are doing this, they are being hunted down by Kylo Ren, and a group of Stormtroopers.
We are eliminating the fetch quests and the new characters. This is 9th film of a 9 film saga. It's about saying goodbye, not hello. The action scenes can come from being on the run from the First Order, bounty hunters, space monsters etc. There is even a scene where Rey heals a space monster.
There is a passage in one of the Jedi texts that is written in Sith, that Rey believes tells them how to get to Exogol, C-3P0 says he can read it, but his mind is blocking him. They decide to take 3P0 to the only slicer that can crack 3P0's mind, DJ. DJ basically takes Zuri's spot in the story and shows up in the final fight.
On one of the planets, the Final Order kidnaps Chewie. Rey, trying to pull the ship back, shoots it with lightning and blows it up. Well, she blows up one of the ships (wink, wink). Kylo kidnaps Rey. This is where the bomb is dropped by Kylo that she is a Palpatine. We see a flashback of her youth, a memory she has blocked out. We see her parents were older, maybe we get someone like Kenneth Brannagh to cameo. This way it's all but confirmed Rey's father was born before Phantom Menace, and he just daughter later in life. We see her parents drop her off with Unkar Plott, and leave in a rush. Kylo reveals they stole a spice smuggling ship and blew themselves up when Snoke was near, convincing Snoke that they, along with their daughter, were dead. We see another flashback and we see the blown up wreckage caused Snoke's ship to crash, causing his injuries.
Poe and Finn attempt to go back to the Resistance, but are surrounded by Stormtroopers. Poe reached for his blaster, but Finn stops him. Finn gives a great speech and tells his story. One of the Storm Troopers takes their helmet off and throws it away. They all slowly do. Finn, Poe, and the new members of the Resistance head back to the Resistance base.
Rey breaks away from Kylo, goes to Ahch-To and the scene plays out mostly the same, except Luke tells her she has the same task he does. He says Leia knew she was a Palpatine because they could feel it in the force. She decided not to tell her because Leia wanted Rey to make her own choices and not worry about the outside world. Luke says, to become a Jedi she must confront her grandfather, just like he had to confront his father. Luke gives Rey Leia's saber.
Rey contacts Finn and Poe and tells them she is going to Exogol. They tell Rey that Leia is sick and is not doing well. Finn and Poe decide follow Rey to Exogol to help her. Kylo intercepts Rey's message. He is going to Exogol.
Rey and Kylo meet up outside of Palpatine's base. They have their fight, in which Han's blaster is knocked from Rey's hip. Kylo is injured, Rey heals him. She says she would have joined Ben, but now she has to kill Palpatine. Kylo falls unconscious. As Leia becomes one with the force, Kylo reawakens. He looks over at his father's blaster. We get a flashback to a young Han and pre-teen Ben. Ben is intrigued by his father's blaster. His father gives him some moral about good and evil and how the blaster once belonged to a con-man, who tried to kill him, but then Han acquired the blaster and the Rebellion beat the Empire, partly because of the blaster. The story is basically how the blaster wasn't inherently evil. Cut to present day. Ben Solo stands up. He is talking to himself, and saying it's too late to change. We hear a voice call out to him saying it's not too late. Ben turns around and see the ghost of his grandfather. Anakin tells Ben that it's never too late to change as long as you're willing to do good. They talk for a few seconds. Ben asks why he hasn't appeared to him before, Anakin says he was with him the whole time, but force ghosts only appear to those who accept the light side. We now have the triple threat of Rey, Leia, and Han pushing Ben to the light. With Anakin pushing him over the edge. Ben says he has something he has to do. He runs off towards Rey.
The space battle plays out nearly identically, but we also see people rise up on their own planets to destroy the star destroyers that orbit above them. During one scene, the Final Order flag ship is about to blow up the ship with Finn and Rose and some background characters we are familiar with. Then the Final Order flag ship starts to have some problems from the inside. It's Chewie, he was on a different ship and escaped. We get a cool fight scene where Chewie is ripping through Stormtroopers, he gets the bridge and starts the self destruct. Chewie sacrifices himself to save the Resistance. However, they are still outnumbered. Poe, doesn't think the people on the other planets made it and that they will soon be met by even more Star Destroyers. This is where Poe can say that it bought them time, but there are still so many ships. Then Lando can chime in with the "But there are more of us." W see the thousands of Resistance ships that have flown in from all around the galaxy. Then we get the great line where the Final Order officers are talking to each other, "Is that a Navy?" "No, it's just people." R2 gets his big moment because we see him lead Finn around the outside of Final Order ship that he breaks on to. This gives Finn a mini-arc because he goes from not understanding BB-8 to having full conversations with R2. R2 can also take out a few Final Order droids/troopers as well.

Ben rushes in to Palpatine's throne room, but is stopped by the Sith Acolytes. From there on, everything is basically the same. Rey passes Ben the saber through the force. Ben kills the Sith Acolytes. Rey kills the Sith Troopers. He shows up to help Rey fight Palpatine. Palpatine talks about their force dyad, sucks their force energy, then yeets Ben down the hole. He then gives his speech to Rey, part of what he says is now that the last of the Skywalker bloodline is dead, nothing can stop the Sith. He is force lightning the fuck out of Rey. The force theme plays and Ben is standing on a boulder that is floating. He steps off the boulder, onto solid ground. This distracts Palpatine and he focuses his energy on Ben. Rey is lying on the ground when she focuses and stares into the stars, this is when she hears the voices of the Jedi past. Rey stands up. Palpatine then hits Ben with a massive bolt of lightning. Palpatine refocuses his lightning on Rey, she blocks it with Leia's saber. As she approaches him she force pulls the Skywalker saber from Ben to her. She gets closer and closer until the sabers press into Palpatine and he is destroyed. Rey passes out and dies. Ben limps over to her. He uses the force to save her. They kiss. He disappears.
The space battle is won by the Resistance. Their is a celebration and our heroes are reunited. The galaxy as a whole is celebrating as we go from planet to planet.
We jump forward in time a few months, maybe a year. Rey is on Ahch-To training a handful of students of all ages, gender, and species. The Millenium Falcom lands Poe, Finn, and Rose step off with a small child. Maybe it's broom boy, maybe it's not. They all greet each other good morning. Rey walks the child towards her other students. We see Leia and Luke's lightsabers on display. The child introduces himself, and asks Rey's name. She says "Rey". The child says, "Rey what?" Then she looks off in the distance and sees the ghosts Luke, Leia, and Ben. She says "Rey, Rey Skywalker." She turns back to her students. We then see the force ghost of Anakin appear next to his family. We then see Yoda, then Qui-Gon Jinn, and finally Ahsoka. They look out as Rey trains her new students as the twin suns of Ahch-To rise in the distance.
One small things I would change for all 3 movies to make this trilogy it's own thing. I would give the "I've got a bad feeling about this." line to all non-basic speaking creatures.
For TFA, I would give it to Chewie. For TLJ, I would keep it as BB-8. For TRoS, I would give it to R2-D2.

ULPT: While playing a table game at a casino, secretly pocket some of your own chips so that when you color out, the pit boss marks you down as losing more money than you actually did, and spending more money gets you more comps. (More casino tips inside)

Keep in mind the dealers do have an idea of how much you actually lost so you can’t go crazy with it. Also if they catch you doing it more than once, they will tell the pit boss about it. It’s not illegal or anything to take your own chips off your stack, but they don’t like people trying to lie about how much they won or lost. When you’re done at the table, ask to color out and the dealer will exchange your chips for higher denomination ones so they’re easier for you to hold/carry. They then call the pit boss over to look at the chips and make sure the dealer exchanged for the right amount. This is when the pit boss sees what you’re walking away with and marks down how much you won or lost.
-When you leave a table, always cash your chips in at the cage before going to another table and then buy in with cash again at the new table so it appears that you are spending more. In the casinos eyes, if you sit down at a new table with chips from another table, then you’re not spending more money, just the same money at a different table. You want it to look like you’re spending a lot. The pit boss keeps track of how much you are buying in for each time you sit down at a table (you always give them your players card when you sit down so they can put the info on your account.)They also keep track of how much you are wagering per hand, but in my opinion it’s not worth it to wager more than you’re comfortable with just to increase your comps. You could end up losing a LOT more money than what the comps will be worth.
I’ve personally done all of these “tips” except the waiting on line one and the sticking my card in slot machines for other people to earn me points. But I have seen other people pull off the waiting in line trick, and I have forgotten my card in a slot machine many times and came back for it to find someone playing with my card still in there getting points for their play. And the using someone else’s card for free parking, the person who owns the high level card was my friend.
Thanks for reading, hope this helps some people out on their next trip to the casino! I’d be happy to answer any questions about casinos or Las Vegas for anybody who’s planning a trip out here. (Disclaimer- I don’t work for a casino I just hang out in them a lot)
Edit: hi everybody, this post has got a lot of attention so I want to add- There are some people commenting who actually work the floor in casinos who disagree with some of the things I’ve written, so, even though I know these things have worked for me, you might want to read those comments before actually trying any of the tips and then decide who you want to take advice from. Thanks for reading!

Two Karens lash out on just about anyone they can because their husband's cheated on them and it's obviously everyone else's fault.

Hi, MrReddit! I've just recently discovered your videos and have become obsessed because I love all the quirky voices you do for the characters! I have worked in customer service in 4 star resorts in Las Vegas for 12 years so I have a TON of entitledparent and choosingbegger stories, but this one is probably one of my all-time favorites, even thou it wasn't funny at the time. Obligatory warnings; I'm on mobile, English speaker but not the best with grammapunctuation (please be gentle) and my first story ever sharing on this sub! TLDR at the bottom.
Backstory: I currently work as a cocktail waitress on the strip ( I don't want to disclose which one I work at for personal reasons. ) I work the graveyard shift and the girl I come in after doesn't care about her job too much, so people can go quite a while without getting a drink from her cause she's just not around. Also, this was a huge event weekend. We had a concert out at the beach, one in the events center and a huge convention staying over the weekend. So I knew just being there would be choas but I had no idea what was in store.
Our cast: Le Wild Karen (LWK); she was in the worst mood ever and insisted on ruining everyone else's day too. Getting Worked-up Karen (GWK); of course she couldn't let her psycho friend be a raging b-word all by herself right? Co-worker #1; first person to warn me that these women are in my section and they're looking for blood. Co-workers #2&3; the girls who were getting yelled at just as I was walking up to the Karens. And last but not least me.
So, I step out onto the floor, getting ready to get bombarded by angry and impatient guests, when co-worker #1 walks up to me and informs me about these 2 insane ladies that are sitting in my section. She tells me they haven't been gambling, which is literally the only thing you're required to do to get a complimentary drink, but they've been screaming like banchees at everyone walking by for any reason they can think of. I just sighed, thanked her for the heads up and went around taking as many drink orders as possible.
Finally, I get to these ladies, who have been screaming at co-workers #2&3 for a few minutes now about everything from them having not been served a drink in "over 2 hours", which is usually a complete lie people will try to use to potentially get us in trouble, to their room service that morning having taken over an hour to bring them breakfast. When my co-workers see me there, they finally have their out and basically run away as fast as possible. This is the conversation that ensues:
Me: Do you ladies want anything to dr- LWK: IT IS ABOUT TIME SOMEONE DECIDED TO DO THEIR GOSH DARN JOB AROUND HERE AND GET US SOME DRINKS. (They were a lot more explicit than this, I'm just trying to keep it YouTube friendly.) GWK: MY GOD, I THOUGHT THIS WAS A 4 STAR RESORT, YOU'D EXPECT TO GET TREATED BETTER THAN THIS BULL. Me: Well, generally, ladies, you're supposed to be gambling to get complimentary drinks. We can get in a lot of trouble if we just pass them out for free, so some waitresses will avoid areas where they see people aren't playing. LWK: looking at me like I just kicked a puppy HOW DARE YOU SPEAK TO ME THAT WAY. I HAVE BEEN GAMBLING FOR HOURS. IT'S $200 A NIGHT TO STAY AT THIS PIECE OF POOP CASINO AND I SPENT ALMOST $400 ON DINNER TONIGHT. IF I WANT A DRINK, YOU'LL GET ME ONE. DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME, YOU LITTLE HALFWIT? At this point, I'm just so shocked that I'm speechless for a minute. Then finally I tell them both that I won't be serving them and keep taking orders through the rest of my station.
A few minutes later, GWK walks up to me and in her best woe is me voice says, "listen, my friend and I are on this vacation because we both just found out our husbands have been cheating on us and we needed to get away. Ever since, we've gotten here, everything has gone wrong and we may be taking out our frustrations in the wrong places, but we seriously have been gambling and we would like a drink, please." Me: The only way that I'll agree to serve you, is if I get an apology, from both of you. GWK: looks back at her friend, who is just glaring daggars at us I doubt she's going to apologize, but I'll apologize for us both. Me: No, I would like an apology from BOTH of you or I refuse to serve you and I will call security and have you escorted off the casino floor.
GWK walks back to her friend, after a few more minutes of taking more drink orders and starting to walk back to the service bar and fill them, I feel the most aggressive TAP TAP on my shoulder. I spin around to see LWK, who just screams, "LET ME SPEAK WITH YOUR MANAGER RIGHT NOW!" insert Mr Reddit REEEE here. I tell her that I'll go get him and walk into my service bar, where she can't see me. I pick up the phone and call security. I let them know that there are 2 psycho ladies that are yelling and berating everyone because I guess it's the world's fault that their husband's would cheat on them. And so far, I've seen them harrass 4 different employees and who even knows if they're harrassing guests. About 5 minutes later, when I'm dropping off drinks in my section, 3 very large, well built security guards walk up to the ladies and tell them they need to go. LWK points at me and says, "what did that grunt tell you happened? Because we've just been sitting here minding our own business, asking her to get us drinks! She should be asked to leave for not doing her job, not us! We're paying to stay here!" Security pulls out handcuffs and that makes the Karen's screech and yell more about how they did nothing wrong, I'm just an awful person for not doing my job and that they'll contact corporate and get us all fired. When I finally got around to asking about what happened to them, security told me they were kept inside a holding cell to "calm down" for 12 hours, then they were 86'd from ever staying at one of our sister properties again.
TLDR; Two Karens found out their husband's had been cheating on them, so they went on vacation to Vegas, where they lashed out on as many people as they could. Finally, after they wouldn't apologize for the terrible things they said to me, just to get free drinks, they asked to talk to my manager but instead got put in a holding cell for 12 hours and are 86'd from all our sister properties.
I hope you liked the story! I know it was a long one but I have a ton of other stories similar to this one, let me know if anyone's interested in me posting them one day!

Trials of Adam ch1, 2

Trials of Adam ch1, 2

Welcome to my novel, inspired by Barry Pepper's role in Crawl (2019)

Chapter 1: Envy, Wrath
Nobody ever imagines themselves as a victim. I certainly didn't. I admit I was kind of a cocky little shit so maybe I deserved to be here: half-naked in a swamp with a bullet in my chest. I think there was also a bullet in my head, either that or I cracked my skull on something while in the process of crawling out of my makeshift grave. "I am Army Master Sergeant Adam Severgine," I said out loud to no one. I needed to remain conscious, I needed to survive.
This was no different from a deployment. Except instead of fighting for my country, for the chance to prove myself, I was fighting to dig myself out of a shithole of my own creation. "I am Adam Severgine, husband, father...addict." Tears filled my eyes. My wife and daughter were miles away in Biloxi, Mississippi.
I had no fear of death and dying but eventually, they would find out how badly I fucked up. I lost thousands of dollars in gambling, booze, heroin, meth. I should have just gotten out when I had the chance.
Instead, I turned tricks, ran drugs; I became a bitch to avoid becoming a bitch. The idea made me laugh. "Ow..." Fuck, I'm going to die.
"No, you're not." The male voice sounded calm, serene. "Do you even know where you are?"
‘I know I'm imagining you, whatever the fuck you are.’
"Because the mighty Master Sergeant Adam could never be communicating with an angel," the voice said with a laugh. The grass in front of me started to blow in the wind.
\swish* *crunch* *swish* *crunch**
The blades of grass seemed to grow taller, their shadows forming the shape of a man with long wavy hair.
"Is that what you are?" I asked with a chuckle. A sharp pain struck my side; I definitely had broken ribs.
As the angel came closer, he seemed to materialize into a mortal form; olive skin, green eyes, and hair that seemed to be streaked with red, blue, purple and gold. "What do you think I am?"
"You kind of look like the Lord, Jesus Christ," I said, my voice starting to slur into a southern accent as I felt my mind drifting away.
The angel laughed as he ran his fingers through his rainbow hair. "I'll take that as a compliment." He then reached over his shoulder and pulled on a golden cloak out of thin air. "Are you ready to go?"
"Go where?"
The angel shrugged. "Does it matter?"
"I guess not." Any place had to be better than dying alone in the swamp.
The angel reached out his hand. "You can call me Leo."
I took his hand, as I did, a series of letters flashed before my eyes; 'E-N-V-Y.' The letters were in thick black font as if someone was throwing them at my face. But why 'envy'?
I jolt awake, in full uniform, outside of a commander's office. I had been here before but where was I?
"Come in," said a female voice.
I knew who it was; Lt General Allyssa Blake. I was back at my station in Alaska. Still afraid of how the hell I managed to travel back in time I took a breath and entered the office giving the appropriate salute.
The much younger woman had blonde hair, light blue eyes, and lips that made me dream of what she looked like out of uniform. "At ease," she said with her soft breathy voice. She returned the salute and motioned for me to take a seat.
Allyssa never sounded like an officer. She gave off ASMR, that tingly feeling down your spine. She was pageant-queen beautiful, brilliant, but more than anything she was kind. Her wonderful heart was the only thing keeping me from bending her over the desk and fucking her brains out.
Sat down, focusing my eyes on the floor. I at least knew what this meeting was about. "Thank you for meeting with me Ma'am."
"Of course, Sergeant. Do you still want the transfer?"
Was this a memory or a test? "The transfer to Mississippi?"
"Yes, unless there was another position you were interested in pursuing."
"Sorry, I'm just a little one edge as of late. I apologize for the nature of my request I-" My daughter was sick, my wife was cheating on me because she was 'lonely.' I needed to be home, to reclaim my family.
"Hey," she stood up and took my hand. "I love you, Adam. You're a good guy. You're going to go home and you're going to fix this. I already have a replacement lined up."
"You do?" This part was new. I never stuck around to learn who she put in my position.
"Lawrence will take over."
"Lawrence Heath?" Lawrence Heath was an Air Force liaison officer. He had more training and education then I did so from a technical standpoint he was a good choice. But he was also Alyssa's ex who transferred to Japan after she miscarried their son.
"He wants to marry me," her voice was so angelic, calm.
Time stood still. I can feel a sharp pain in my chest. "Leo? Please tell me this is a dream."
Leo placed his hand upon my shoulder. "What do you remember about Lawrence?"
"H-He never actually hurt her."
"Alyssa miscarried in the middle of the office. You drove her to the hospital. You held her hand while she cried. Where was he?"
"He was at work. He came to her as soon as he could. I loved her like a sister, and I know it broke her when he left. But she loved him." I reached my hand to touch Alyssa's frozen cheek. "I hope they found happiness."
"Impressive," Leo said, starting a slow clap. I turned to see my guardian angel sitting on an office chair, his rainbow hair flowing about his face. "I wonder how someone so noble ended up in a place like this."
"What?" With a jolt, I was back in the swamp. My chest felt like it was being crushed and my head was throbbing. In my hands, I felt an unbearable burning sensation. But I knew perfectly well why that was. Shooting up heroin between your broken fingers tends to fuck shit up. I forced myself to scoot backward until I felt myself leaning against a massive tree. The rough bark cut into the skin of my back and neck, but I was still grateful for the opportunity to rest.
Lighting cracked the sky, forming a distinct series of patterns, 'W-R-A-T-H'- Wrath? I couldn't help but smirk. I mean, I had plenty to be angry about. So, I was actually curious as to where the angel was going to take me next. "I'm ready."
I closed my eyes and took a deep, calming, breath.
I could hear the sound of a plane landing. My skin was no longer in pain, but my heart as beating a mile a minute as I stood in the cool airconditioned TSA waiting room. I knew where this was. When I opened my eyes, I was meeting my daughter. My wife and I had tried for years to conceive but it was never meant to be. At the age of thirty, we started the process to adopt from China. After years of waiting, we stood hand in hand at the immigration office of Jackson, Mississippi. China had been our last hope. For whatever reason, we were unable to even get on a waiting list for a European or North American baby. That was another reason I was nervous. The little girl was already six months old. What if she took one look at me and decided, 'Nope, I'm not going to be able to love these military-redneck white folks?' I was scared. Fate had a reason for never blessing us with a biological child.
As the adoption rep put the baby in my arms, I felt only the light of God's love. "Hello, Cece."
My wife scoffed, "I thought we agreed on a name- Annabelle-Rylie?"
"Felicity June Severgine," that's her name, my daughter's name.
The next few moments flew by in a blur, but a painful number of them were of me abandoning my family. As the years passed, I saw myself in uniform leaving for deployment; moments when I truly believed that I might not come back alive. Other times I was just in sweatpants and a t-shirt as I kissed my family goodbye. Before my eyes, Cece transformed from a toddler to a teen. I suddenly felt a wave of nausea. The last time I saw Cece she was no longer the beautiful girl I remembered.
I closed my eyes and fell to my knees. "Oh, God..." I knew what I was going to see; my angel my reason for living, in a medically induced coma.
"She never told you what really happened," said Leo's disembodied voice.
I stood up to see the angel standing over Cece's bed. "My wife told me it was pneumonia." I'd never made it to my daughter's side to see for myself.
"Marni told you that, knowing it would take you at least a month to get home. The wounds healed by then. And what didn't heal could be explained away. Ironically, after a seizure, she did develop a sepsis infection in her lung that mimicked pneumonia." Leo made his way to Cece's side and held her hand. "But you didn't see what she looked like the day of the phone call." Leo kissed Cece's forehead. "I'm so sorry little one, this will only last a moment."
I had a feeling I was not supposed to hear that last part.
Cece had a breathing tube but as time regressed it vanished, replaced with the monstrous number of wounds. She cried, then screamed. Her face covered in bruises, cuts, and clearly broken bones. Her clothing transformed into a short blue dress; one I had never seen before.
Time stood still as my government issue phone rang. I hit my thigh only to feel no pockets. The phone was in the palm of my hand. "Hello?"
"Hi, Daddy."
I remember this conversation. She said she came home from a dance. Homecoming, Prom?
"I went to a party," Cece's said, her voice cracking with sadness. "It was great."
Silence.
Leo poked my arm. "Hey, it's your line."
With trembling hands, I moved the phone to my mouth to speak. "That's great, baby."
"Should go," she said as her breathing became labored. It was clear she was trying not to cry. "I-I love you, Daddy."
Marni came in the room just as Cece hung up. "Hi, sweetie, do you feel up to talking to the police officers? They need to get your statement and do a rape kit."
"Yes, Mom," Cece glanced at the phone, giving it a squeeze. "I'll be ok. I just wish Dad was here."
I got to see the rest of the scene. According to her statement, she had been raped, beaten and left for dead. That was how she escaped. When her date (and his three friends) thought she was dead, they locked her in the trunk.
She remembered what her father had told her about how to escape a trunk and managed to not only kick out the tail light but also get the trunk open while the piece-of-shit car was going forty down a backroad. Battered and bloody she ran for her life until she found her way to the main street.
Leo placed his hand upon my shoulder. "What would you have done if you knew the truth?
"I would have fucking killed the bastards."
"Really?" Leo waved his hand, to focus back on the scene.
Marni took a seat, holding Cece's hand. "What did you tell your Dad?"
"Nothing. I didn't want him to be disappointed in me," she said, burying her face in her pillow.
"I could ever be disappointed with you," I said out loud. I knew she couldn't hear me, that hurt more than anything. But not more than the feeling of my leg getting blown off.
A sharp pain shot through my leg. Suddenly I was back in terrorist occupied Iraq, riding in a supply convoy. A larger truck ran us off the road, into an IED. At least that's what I was told.
The vehicle I was in exploded, and I was pinned under the rubble. Somehow my leg was extracted from the mess and sent along with the rest of my broken body to Landstuhl, Germany where I spent the next few weeks waking up.
At the time, my home station was in Colorado Springs, Colorado. That was where my wife was living with a then eleven-year-old Cece. I remember I’d asked that I be transferred back to my family; if I was going to die, I wanted to die at home. My superiors, the US military; they owed me that much.
My next memory was of Cece staying by my side. I'd suffered burns over twenty-five percent of my body, there were bone shards in my hips and my leg had been put back together with pins and rods. It was a unique sensation, to be a living mass of pain. The local medical team determined that I would never walk again. So, the goal was to make me comfortable.
I was allowed at-home hospice care. This meant that I was placed under the attention of a nurse for administering therapy, and medications, but during the majority of the week my wife was tasked with wound care. At least she was supposed to be. My wife never touched me. To do so would have meant to show some level of compassion.
I remember Cece asked the nurse to teach her how to change the dressing on my leg. I have to assume the nurse thought she was curious and adorably sweet. Because otherwise, it was not the safest practice.
I closed my eyes. When I awoke, I was back in that wonderful moment. "Cece?"
"Hi, Daddy," my little daughter said in a calm whisper as she donned oversized medical gloves.
“Hi, Sweetheart,” I replied in a horse whisper.
“If I hurt you, I’m really sorry.” She changed out the gauze, using a bottle of peroxide to wash the open wounds.
I flinched but tried my best to stay quiet.
"Mom said that I needed to say goodbye," Cece explained as she worked with a gentle touch. "She told me the only reason you came home is because you're too sick to go back. I don't believe her." She finished in silence before getting a clean blanket from the closet. "You're going to walk again." She cuddled by my side, resting her head on my shoulder. "Superheroes don't die."
My heart filled with a sense of faith that I didn't know was possible.
She spent her summer by my side; changing my bandages, helping with physical therapy. I was also working with a therapy nurse who was impressed by my level of strength.
For Cece's twelfth birthday she had a party at the on-base movie theatre. I paid the bills but Marni took on the responsibility of making the day special for our daughter. Cece invited her entire class, she looked so genuinely happy.
I arrived in my wheelchair. As the movie played, it was 'Step Up', some kind of dance movie from the golden age of hip-hop music. The movie was played on the projector as background noise, as the kids ate pizza and talked.
I waited in the back until she noticed me.
"Dad!" She broke off a conversation with several friends to run over to me. "Oh my god! Did you just get here? How was your therapy appointment?"
From my wheelchair, I reached to the cane at my side and I stood up.
Cece cupped her hands over her mouth as tears welled in her eyes.
I took my first (pain-stricken) steps since the accident that should have taken my life. I stood tall, strong, as Cece threw her arms around me.
"I love you, Daddy. You're my hero." she paused to wipe tears from her eyes. "But does this mean you're leaving again?"
I was. I could have taken medical retirement, stayed with my family. But I needed the money. I needed to pay off a mortgage, send my daughter to a good college: I wanted to make my family proud.
So, I took a position in Alaska as a squadron lead. That’s when the addictions started. painkillers lead to heroin. loneliness lead to gambling and prostitution. all because I left behind the one person who truly cared.
The world went dark. I was sitting alone in an empty theatre as Leo appeared on the screen. "Hi, Adam. Wow, this is certainly an interesting view."
"Yeah," I replied in a weak voice.
"Well, I have to ask, what would you have done if you knew the truth about your daughter's assault?"
All I could do was laugh. The situation was clear now: I was dead and this was Hell. "You really want to know?"
Leo shook his head. "Look, I'm not a sadist, I just have a job to do. I was human once, just like you. And no, you're not in hell."
“Forgive me if I don’t believe you.”
The man laughed as he turned towards the theatre and with one swift motion, seemed to jump from the screen. He walked towards me, with the fabric of the curtain attached to his back like wings. "So, what would you have done? Her attackers were never prosecuted. If you had a moment with those boys in a soundproof room with just your revolver, what would you do?"
I thought for a moment. I had no one to blame but myself. "I would eat my gun." Was Cece dead? I needed to know. If she was gone, I truly wanted to die.
Leo approached me, placing a hand upon my shoulder. "Much better, on to the next test."
I gripped his arm. "Why should I trust you?"
Leo rolled his eyes. "Maybe because I'm the one with the magic powers."
"You're my driver," I said in a tone that came off ruder than intended. "But what would happen if I said I'd rather walk to my final destination."
Leo chuckled and shrugged. "Hell, if I know. Maybe someone will find your body. Maybe you'll reunite with Cece in heaven. Or maybe she'll survive and grow up believing that her hero abandoned her. What do you want from me?"
"You said you were human once- I want to know something about you."
Leo cupped his hand to my face, tracing a finger along my jawline. He appeared to be studying my features, which gave me an opportunity to study his. "What do you see when you look at me?"
"You have green eyes," I said in a whisper. His eyes were hypnotic, his breath; warm, comforting, human.
"I know what it feels like to love someone until it hurts." Leo leaned in and kissed my lips, breathing a long constant stream of air that seemed to crackle with electricity.
Chapter 2: Lust, Greed
'All you need is love? Love? Love is all you need?' The voices hummed in my ear. They weren't singing, they were asking. I know where I am and I don't want to open my eyes.
"How does that feel?" asked a voice that was not Leo. It was Dr. Ethan Rogers, my physical therapist. He was a younger man; late twenties, early thirties, with blond hair and blue eyes- the most all-American soldier you could ever hope to meet. And he was massaging my naked thigh with a vibrator.
I know I'm hard, and I know what he's about to do next.
"I'm going to put this inside you," he said in a most professional tone of voice.
I could have attacked him, punched him in the face, or at the very least or at least said no. But it felt so good. I knew my scar tissue was prominent. It was a disgusting crater that ran along the entirety of my leg. I stayed in shape; my body was lean, muscular but that seemed all for show. I needed to look the part of a soldier, maybe if I was lucky, I would be able to pass my physical. My legs were for running, training. My cock was for pissing. My ass was for shitting. It had been months since I allowed myself to feel sexual pleasure.
"Just relax, let yourself go."
Damn it feels incredible. My eyes open on their own, staring straight into the blinding room light. The bulb is blinking forcing me to blink. Letters form in the shape of the light. 'L-U-S-T.' Yeah, I guess so. But it wasn't a lust for sex.
I feel him inject my leg; my broken, mangled leg. My leg that existed for the sole purpose of causing me unbearable pain, akin to the fires of hell. In a matter of moments, all of that was but a memory. He told me he was giving me morphine but I knew it had to be something stronger. That shit fucked with my head. Like a cool wave of tranquility; life death and every emotion in-between.
"I can get you a prescription for morphine, maybe even fentanyl.” His voice is calm, cool, like an ice tea on a hot day. “All you have to do is submit to me."
All I could do was laugh. "Sure, sounds great." My speech was slurred. This man was the devil and I willingly jumped headfirst down the rabbit hole into Hell.
I was physically fit. Dr. Ethan Rogers knew he could rent me out to anyone who had a fetish for dominating. Over the next year and a half, I lived as a sex-slave. I was bound, gagged. I sucked cock and even let men fuck me in my on-base housing. I was a human party favor, but I was always well compensated.
I took their pills, so many pills, all the colors of the rainbow. Most of the time, I never knew what any of it was, only that it was my prize. And when given vials of heroin, meth and God knows what else, I shot up in my arms, legs, but mainly my hands just because no one at my actual job seemed to notice my hands.
It was a perfect system. By day I was a soldier; a flawless, reliable worker who could be counted on for any job. I was a great husband and father who was working tirelessly to make sure his family would be taken care of. I worked myself to the bone, playing through the pain. But at night I was free.
Until the day my heart stopped.
I awoke in Alysa Blake's room, on her sofa. "Wow, you fucked up." The general looked like her actual youthful age. Her long blonde hair was pulled into a messy bun.
"Aly?" I tried to speak but immediately had to vomit.
General Blake had a bucket waiting by the side of my head. "You're going to stay here for a while." She placed a cold washcloth to my neck focusing on my artery. "This is going to help with the pain in your chest."
I shook my head. "But, what about my leg?"
"You're not the only one living with chronic pain." Alyssa took my hand a placed it on her hip, just below her abs. There was a massive scar. I knew the story; she had been shot in the hip; the bone and surrounding tissue had to be rebuilt. This was likely the reason for her later miscarriage. "I'm not giving you anything for your leg. You're probably going to have another seizure from all the drugs you already took."
I tried to move, to sit up- anything. But the pain seemed to course through my body. I wanted to cry or scream, but no sound was coming from my parched throat.
I gripped my head as a massive migraine pounded my vision. In the midst of my agony, I didn't even notice Alyssa leave and return with a blanket until the moment she cuddled by my side. "I'm going to stay with you."
I nodded, with a noticeable lump in my throat.
"Talk to me about Cece." Alyssa put her arms around me as she rested her head on my chest. “What is she like?”
I knew what this was. This moment, it was the opposite of lust. Nothing was worth more than my family, my daughter "She's a dancer."
"A dancer?"
"I think my wife has her in gymnastics and cheerleading but she..." I swallowed hard thinking about the last time we talked. Cece asked if she could send me a link to a video of her ballet recital. She loved ballet, she wanted to be a choreographer. She sent the link but my Alaska internet was too weak to see it without an extensive amount of buffering. And the camera had been placed so far back I could barely make out her face. I told her as much, but that I would love to see her dance someday.
"Have you seen any of her performances?"
I nodded. "C-Can I have some water?"
"Sure." Alyssa turned away, attempting to sit up.
Try as a might, my arms wouldn't let her go. "I feel sick. But, more than anything, don't want to cry in front of my commanding officer."
Alyssa glared at me with a look of seriousness. "I found you in your room bleeding from your ass. I performed CPR until you were lucid enough to walk with your arm around my shoulder." She only lived a few houses down and often visited.
I couldn't remember making the walk to her house but it wouldn't be the first time. I had the habit of dialing her number when I was too high to think straight. "My apologies Ma'am."
She reached for my hand, stroking between my fingers. "If I was here as your commanding officer you would be in a hospital awaiting a medical discharge." Her fingers paused on an open sore where I injected regularly. "I'm here as your friend, because what you need right now is a friend."
I knew she wasn't wrong. "Thank you."
"So, tell me about the time you saw your little girl dance."
My hands were trembling as my eyes filled with tears. "She sent me a USB."
"She sent you a file on a flash drive? Wow, that's really sweet."
"Cece had somehow used her phone to record a solo piece in her backyard. I didn't recognize the song, something Gaelic sounding about finding your wings to touch the sky." With the warm memory in my heart, my body relaxed.
"That sounds like the theme from the movie Brave," Alyssa said as she sat up. "Wow, that brings back memories. Anyway, I'm going to get you some water now."
Brave? Of course, it was.
Alyssa returned with a bottled water and a straw. "Take small sips." Once it appeared like I was not going to vomit again she took her place back on my chest, holding me close. "You need to go home."
"I know." I stroked her hair as I looked up at her stucco ceiling.
"You need to research a position at a base closer to your family,” she said as she kissed my cheek. “And I will sign off on it."
"Thank you." Now I just wish she talked me out of driving down to the states. Maybe I wouldn't have fucked up as badly as I did.
A lonely drive, six hours on the road, maybe eight. Behind the wheel of a rented SUV carrying all my worldly possessions, I thought I could keep focus, I thought I-
And here comes the crash.
I opened my eyes, but all I see is darkness. "Leo, are you there?"
I could feel someone grab my hand, pulling me from the vehicle. It wasn't Leo, but rather a younger male, possibly a teen.
"Wow, Leo was right, you are fucked up." The kid pulled me out of the vehicle, seemingly indifferent to my level of pain. "You should grab your wallet and suitcase. We have a bit of a walk into town.”
I did as he asked. I could recall what happened at this moment in time. While it did not include a Native American surfer-boy, I knew where we were headed.
"How long did you manage to stay clean for?" the smug teen asked.
I turned to him with a look of contempt. He stood maybe 5'9", and although he had an attractive face and youthful demeanor, I would have no problem punching his lights out.
"Really, old man?" The boy laughed.
"Master Sergeant Adam Severgine," I said with a groan.
"I know," he said, happily, skipping down the road. "I'm Jamie. Welcome to Oklahoma."
"How old are you? And where's Leo?"
"Leo will meet us in town. And as for me-" Jamie did a backflip landing in front of my face, close enough to kiss my lips. "I'm legal."
"Are you a guardian angel too?"
"Are you asking if I have powers?"
"I am," I replied through gritted teeth. I could remember how long the original walk took me. By the time I got to town, my leg was killing me.
"That's not why you got high off your ass."
"Oh, fuck you!"
"You got clean just long enough to pass a physical, for the job transfer. And then you started using again like the fucked-up junkie that you are!" Jamie continued doing flips and cartwheels down the empty road.
I focused on my own path looking down at my boots as I walked. My leg was mostly healed, to the point where I could walk unassisted, I could even drive. But I still felt an ache, a chronic pain that would never go away no matter what drugs I took.
Jamie appeared in front of me, lifting my face to look into his eyes. "I'm bored and I miss my boyfriend so I'm going to do you a favor." He punched me in the face with all the force of a fighter jet.
I awoke on the floor of a casino. And I do mean floor: My eyes opened to reveal the sight of paramedics working frantically. They had apparently just finished restarting my heart.
When I looked straight ahead, sitting at a slot machine was Jamie. The little punk was doubled over in laughter.
Leo stepped out of the shadows. He raised a finger giving the 'give me a second' sign. He embraced Jamie, speaking to him in a quiet tone. I couldn’t hear what they were saying, but at least Leo was calming him down. When Jamie finally stopped laughing, the couple walked to the elevators.
A tall older man, in a suit, came over to check on the scene. He was the hotel manager and a former Marine. We talked for a while, with me telling him my situation. He kindly offered to give me a room for the night, free of charge. It was the least he could do for a fellow soldier.
Yes, it was only for one night. I could contact the rental agency and they could send a new car to my location. But until then he offered to buy me dinner and give me a tour of the hotel and casino.
Everything was going great. After hanging out with my new friend I took a seat at one of the many the table poker tables.
I was by no means an expert but I preferred tables, to computer-generated games of chance. That was when I met Lola. She looked like a typical cocktail waitress, just a few years away from retirement. She was possibly old enough to be my mother (either that or she had just spent too much time in the sun,) but she was undeniably beautiful. She made sure to flirt, playing with her long blonde hair as she brought me free drinks.
"Drink up," she said, before taking a shot. She cupped my face, forcing the shot of whiskey down my throat. "It's on me, love." Next thing I knew she was on my lap. I was winning hand after hand; she was truly my good luck charm. When I was too drunk to walk, she offered to escort me to my room.
I remember collapsing on to the bed. I could feel her hands, her long nails, then her mouth. When I was ready, she started to ride me. Talking dirty in a way that my wife never did, I gave her full control. she got on her knees and wanted me to fuck her from behind. I did, and what was when a man barged in with a master key. It was the manager.
My memory is blacking in and out but I remember him getting on the bed. He and Lola are laughing. They offer me cocaine.
The next morning, I awoke to the sight of Lola in my bed. Her naked chest was moving, so I had no immediate reason to panic.
Jamie stood in the corner wide-eyed. "Wow, I was raped to death by a demonic cult and even I found that disturbing."
Leo walked through the wall to stand at Jamie's side. "And this isn't even the worst of it."
I tried to sit up but my body hurt. "Why, the fuck, are you even here?" Just my luck, I had a pair of fuck-boy morons for guardian angels.
Leo sighed. He approached the bed, stroking Lola's hand. "You can't change the past." He made a turn to the closet, grabbing my phone from my pocket. "But you can choose your future."
I was lucid enough to move my arm and unlock my screen. I had wi-fi. I clicked on my email. it was open to a message from Cece, starting with a link that I had never seen before. "Greed.mov?"
Leo shrugged. "You should probably take a look."
I clicked. There was Cece in her blue dress, sitting on her bed. "Hi, Dad. I'm a little nervous. I really like Jason, and well, I wish you could have met him. He's so much like you. He wants to join the Marines, travel the world. I mean, I guess I'd write to him. A lot of my friends are planning on getting married, so their boyfriends don't cheat. It's really stupid. Jason says he loves me, he wants to marry me. I'm pretty sure he just wants to fuck me." Cece looked down at her silver ring. It had belonged to my grandmother who passed away before Cece was born. I had given it to my daughter on her sixteenth birthday. It was only then, on that video, did I notice where she wore it. She wore it like a wedding ring: a purity ring.
Cece looked to the side, at her computer, to press a few keys. "I hope this will help my anxiety." The music starts to play, it was a slow, Celtic, song. I watched as she moved her arms, in a graceful ballet pose. She appeared to be free-styling a dance piece, in her room, dancing on her bare feet. It was truly breathtaking. But why was the file titled 'greed.mov'?
"I can't wake up without you, Dad." The voice was not coming from the phone.
I nearly screamed at the sight of Cece's broken, bloody form.
Jamie put his arm around Cece, patting her shoulder. "Don't worry, she's still in a coma."
The creepy, undead version of my daughter leaned her head on Jamie's shoulder. She turned just enough to look at me with her dark, innocent, eyes. "When you rocked me to sleep, you would tell me stories. I think you assumed I couldn't hear you or what I wasn't paying attention."
"You couldn't even talk." For the first two years, I was so nervous about being a father, that I would unload all of my horrific stories on to Cece like a verbal diary. she didn't speak a word until she started preschool at age three and even then, I never heard anything from her teachers about my stories.
"Knowing so much about your past is why I always had such respect for you." Cece took a step forward, reaching out her hand. "I know what you saw, what you experienced. It made you the person you are." When she came closer, her hand hit a glowing wall of energy. She nodded her head knowingly. We weren't in the same space. "Jamie said you're going to make your way back to me."
I knew our time was short so I had only one question to ask. "Why greed?"
"You told me I was your treasure; I was everything you ever wanted."
"I'm so sorry."
"That wasn't meant as an attack. Not at you, not ever." Cece moved closer. She was able to sit on the bed, her hand caressing the fabric. Her moves were careful and deliberate.
I would have given anything to be able to touch her hand. I knew in my heart this wasn't an illusion, this was my daughter.
Cece pursed her lips and continued, "There's an old saying, 'Shoot for the moon, even if you fail, you'll be among the stars.' Well, what happens when you reach the moon but it's not the finish line that you thought it would be. You always want more, I did anyway. that's why I let Jason go as far as he did. I thought I could have it all; I'd go to college and have a hot, long-distance boyfriend. maybe we'd meet up in Europe where I would audition for a ballet company. At least that's what I thought." Cece wiped tears from her eyes. "He was dating me as a practical joke. I was the nerdy-science geek who was also a dancer. The rumor was that I clearly wanted to be fucked, but my stern military daddy was keeping me inline." She paused for a moment, looking into my eyes. "I guess he was half right. I knew Jason's plan was to make me choose between you and him. And what's really messed up is, I would have chosen him. I was greedy." Cece took a few steps back, her form already starting to fade. "I miss you so much, Dad. Please come find me."
Leo cracked his knuckles. "Well, this was fun but we have miles to go before we sleep. So-" He turned to Jamie.
“Yeah, I know.” Jamie nodded, with a sigh, as Cece vanished.
Next, Leo turned to me, with hesitation. "This next part is going to hurt."
"More than seeing my dying daughter?"
Leo clicked his tongue as he moved to Jamie's side. "Adam, how much do you remember about your trip from Oklahoma to Louisiana?"
"Do I remember who shot me and left me for dead int he Louisiana swamplands?" I clearly did not.
"Do you want to know?" Leo asked, twirling a lock of his rainbow hair. "I mean I'm supposed to show you, orders from the big boss," he said, motioning towards heaven. "But I think it would be a little cruel."
Jamie's eyes lit up. "Can we just give him a summery? He'll feel just as shitty but we won't have to watch it!"
Leo pursed his lips, clearly trying to hide laughter. "Jamie..." Leo took a breath to calm down. "None the less you are correct. But to stay in line with the," he made the pointing gesture again, "I'll give him just enough to dwell on during our hike back to civilization."
Jamie leaned against a wall as Leo stepped towards me. He crawled into bed, positioning himself on top of me like a snake. His long hair trickled against my face. "You good, Adam?"
"As good as I can be."
"I'll make this quick." Leo closed his eyes.
I did the same. The images flashed before my eyes like the world’s worst vacation slideshow. Oh, God.
More sex, drugs, a few suicide attempts. Luckily it would only last three weeks. I apparently went on the mother of all drug binges. I didn't want to go home, and I knew why. My daughter was sick, but my wife… my beautiful, kind, wife, Marni-Lynn was a fucking whore who’d torn my heart out a long time ago.

Can we please stop with all the "OMG TETHER CRASH IS COMING" threads?

Some people think USDT is sketchy, and don't want to use it. I haven't used it myself. What I don't understand is why after the crash it's suddenly "cool" to predict the next crash. What people don't seem to understand is how valuation of currency works:
Lots of people want some sort of hedge / safe harbour without the hassle of cashing out. Enter USDT. From what I can gather it works like this:
  1. You buy 1 USDT for 1 USD
  2. You buy BTC with either USDT or USD at 1:1
More and more Tether is printed to keep up with demand. Value stays at ~1USD. This works as long as people want to buy Tether for 1 USD. Imagine the market loses trust in Tether. This is what people think would make the market crash:
  1. Nobody wants USD, all holders try to sell. Price will probably stabilize somewhere - but let's imagine worst case scenario, it becomes completely worthless.
  2. Nobody wants to give away other crypto for something nobody wants, every listing for sale vs USDT disappears. Those who couldn't get rid of their Tether are screwed.
  3. The end.
The value of something is what people are willing to buy it for. If for some reason nobody wants to buy Toyotas anymore, that doesn't mean the entire world economy tanks, it just means Toyota and all owners are in trouble. If nobody accepts a FIAT currency, it becomes worthless as well. They are all printed/made up in the same way USDT is.
Can someone please explain the economics behind USDT causing the market to crash? I really fail to see how USDT can have inflated the market, when every Tether is payed for in USD.
Think of it this way: I spent exactly 10 seconds throwing some paint on a canvas, and sell it for 100 USD - did I just print money? If a country changes the name of its currency, will it crash the market? If you tip the cocktail waitress with a casino chip, did you just give her "pretend money"?

Destination: Tulalip

We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.
Tulalip Resort Casino is an Indian casino and resort in Quil Ceda Village, Washington, owned and operated by the Tulalip Tribes of Washington. It opened in 2004 as Tulalip Casino, and was renamed in late 2007 because of the new hotel, which opened August 15, 2008.[1] In addition to the AAA Four Diamond award-winning 12-story hotel with 370 rooms and suites, the resort includes 192,000 square feet (17,800 m2) of gaming space. The property has 7 restaurants: Tulalip Bay, Blackfish, Cedars Cafe, The Draft Bar and Grill, Journeys East, Eagles Buffet and Canoes Carvery. The T Spa is the resort's onsite spa and features 14,000 square feet (1,300 m2) of treatment rooms. There are also meeting facilities, and the Canoes Cabaret, Orca Ballroom, and Tulalip Amphitheatre for entertainment events.[1]
DO NOT GO GENTLE INTO A DOMESTIC FIGHT
I had just passed through Arlington when the Taco Time began to take hold. The meaty filling and breathtaking sauces had begun to plummet my belly's pH level to a low that now refused all immigrants to my stomach like a pack of Texans at a gun show in a Trump convention. Or something. I turned to my wife and told her we were going to need to stop.
This was a mistake.
She beamed at me and said "How about the Outlet Mall?"
I would like to say I didn't shit my pants. But I shit my pants. I needed to pull over and a thought occurred to me. Well, two thoughts: fireworks and the casino. Any able bodied Washingtonian should know that the Outlet Mall in Tulalip is a win situation. In fact, it's not a bad idea to tell your wife that "Hey, you deserve a treat - let's go to the Outlet Mall in Tulalip." And then drive her up there, stay for the Banana Republic and Starbucks and then "Hey, hon, I might have more fun if I went over to the casino." And then drink until she has to drive and gamble until she has to take all the clothing she bought at the mall back.
So, it was off to the Outlet Mall. Luckily, they sold underwear.
THERE IS NO OUTLET AT THE OUTLETS
Nothing in life is free. And nothing in life is easy. So, I did have to purchase new underwear and I had a little more trouble than I imagined getting out of the Outlet Mall.
The mall seems extremely escapable as it's outside. However, you must be quick with your "Ho-hum, I'll just go to the Casino" story. You must say it nonchalant and give your partner a look that says "I can take it or leave it". Unfortunately for me, she replied "Maybe next time."
I forgot that our chance adventure at the Outlet Mall was a product of me shitting my pants and not a gift on a Saturday of spousal Outlet shopping.
"Look" I said. "I need to sit down and rest. We just spent the last five hours driving from Canada down here and Taco Time made me shit my pants AND I had to go into Banana Republic. I need to chill. This is important to me." Telling a loved one something is important to you is very important. You must use it wisely.
She gave me a look that said that she wouldn't forget it, but I got clearance to leave. I nodded her adieu and made my way through the Outletters.
There is a sick notion in the American mind that goods and services can be had on the cheap by venturing into an Outlet Mall. Nothing can be further from the truth. In fact, the new underwear I was wearing had already begun to split at the seams. There is a reason the Outlets are far away from civilization - it impedes returns.
Teams of tourists surrounded me, looking for bargains, when all I wanted to do was get away from them. The cheap kitchenware and taffy were not the drugs I needed at this time. I needed fireworks, beer, and that feeling that only comes when you pull cash out of a credit card to get your bank account back from the greedy wheel at the roulette table.
"Back, you!" I shouted at the Scientologist that is a permanent fixture at the Outlet Mall.
"But it's just a personality test!" She screamed after me.
"I take that personal!" I screamed back.
Into a Japanese tourist I slammed and spilled their belongings of muffin pans, omelet makers, and fudge named after some damn mountain in Montana that no one knows about or wants to.
Security was on me and took a hold of my collar and shook me like a bag of gold. "Out of here, you joker!" the guard yelled.
"Thank you." I whispered as he shoved me out into the parking lot and on my way to the firework stand.
TWO NATIONS MEET
There's nothing like a firework stand. Well, nothing like a good one: the kind that will sell you enough explosives to get sanctions slapped on you. Tulalip was one.
Much like sister city Auburn, Tulalip did not disappoint in the firework department. They had razzlers, tazzlers, jizzles and phazims. They had rollies, tollies, gollies, and bazims. I made all those words up, but the point is that you simply point at the biggest cannon you see at the stand and say "I'll take that."
Some of the fireworks are themed. There's a Terminator themed pack full of cannons and mortars. There's a Star Wars themed pack of cannons and mortars. There's even a Celebrity Chef pack that has...cannons and mortars.
Because of my hurry and my need to return to my loving wife within the two hours it would take her to figure out nothing fits, I went for the bone: the stuff they pretend they won't sell you unless you act like something illegal is going on.
I approached the fireworks dealer. "Sir - I would like - come closer."
"Yes?" The man asked.
"I hear your firework stand is the best." I cozied up to the register and began toying with a pack of Saturn Missiles seductively.
"Big Tits and Ass Fireworks is the best. My grandfather built Big Tits and Ass Fireworks with his bare hands! Tulalip Nation!" The man screamed and the other firework dealers screamed back.
"Yes, that's all well and good. It is a fine establishment. But tell me this...."
"Yesssss?' He asked, winking.
"Can I get..."
"Yessss?"
"A tennis ball full of....."
"Gun powder?!"
My head shot up and I looked at him cross and said "Good lord, no! Cocaine! Cocaine, my good man! I want to buy cocaine from you!"
Again I was tossed out of an outlet. This time it was the fireworks kind. I had flown too close to the sun. I figured I'd get some sparklers. Then I figured a mortar. Then I figured an M80. Then I just went all in and asked for cocaine. I was severely off my game.
THE CASINO
I got back in the car and began cursing the Tulalip Nation in the only language I knew: English.
Sure, I took some sign language and Spanish, but I didn't remember most of it and wasn't going to Google it.
Not now. Not with the casino a half a mile away.
I parked the car and took out a cigarette from a pack I kept in the trunk for just such an occasion: shitting your pants, getting kicked out of an outlet mall, trying to buy cocaine, and then getting kicked out of a firework stand.
I called it Old Smokey.
Tulalip Casino is a majestic building that greets you with fountains and lights and all the majesty of realizing you are about to lose money you don't have to a video game themed on the premise of milking money out of a cow.
As you enter, the smoke comes on you like hot fudge on a sundae if hot fudge was smoke and you were a sundae. The atmosphere reminds you of a wedding some uncle had before he went to jail for a crime that the family will not acknowledge in public. From room to room you feel that rush of being a racial minority for the first time in your life, only to become just another white guy leering at a cocktail waitress behind aviator glasses in the next room - complicating this is the fact that you're Korean.
There's an aroma of food under the nicotine and perfume, but you can't quite make out what it might be. It could be spare ribs or it could be Pad Thai, but what it won't be is good. There is no good food made by human beings that can be carried from poker table to poker table in a plastic sack. Sure, there's the nice restaurant where you sit down and eat your food at a table instead of in your car crying as you try to figure out how you're going to tell your wife that you lost the life savings and all you got out of it was a free bag of sliders and fries...but you don't want to sit down and eat food like a human. You want to gamble.
Like most casinos, the Tulalip has a club you can join to lose money within a kind of fraternal order of losers. Sure, you'll get free money and smokes and food, but those things just keep you anchored to that casino. No, the real pros skip the club and lose on their own terms.
Like me. It was time to lose money the only way I knew: video slots. Video slots are like the slot machines of old, only they have little video games within them where you get entertained as you pay for three computers and a college education for a Tulalip Nation member's family. There are bonuses, free spins, and even quests where you lose money by way of slaying dragons or orcs or zombies.
I slid a hundred in and began navigating a gnome around a fairytale castle hoping to hit the jackpot that would possibly pay off my car, but certainly wouldn't make me a rich man. As I slid hundred after hundred in the machine, the damn gnome continued to get lost in the flower city of Zambel. I shouted at the gnome "JESUS, WILL YOU PICK THE CORRECT DOOR - THIS IS COSTING ME MONEY!" But the gnome failed to pick the right door and I was out 800 dollars.
I went to the bar.
THE CASINO AND BEYOND
"At least I can get drunk now." I was left to my own shame in a bar in the casino, nursing a beer and trying to imagine how to rob the Wal Mart next door and actually make any money.
I had another half hour before I would have to meet my wife and explain how we couldn't have kids now.
"You seem down on your luck." The bartender looked at me from behind a mask of years of inbreeding. His eyes were fused and his cycloptic movements made me cringe as he pushed a matchbook across the table to me. "Meet this man at the city limits."
"You mean the Exit door?"
"Yes."
I couldn't possibly see how this man (T.C. said the matchbook) or any other man could help me out in the predicament the Native Americans had put me in. Oh, who was I kidding, it was my fault!
And the Native Americans. And my wife's. If she wouldn't have shit her pants on the way home - but I must not blame, I thought.
"Hear you need a job, kid." It was Tom Cruise.
"What the hell are you doing here?"
"I own this place."
"Really?"
"Hell no. I had to take a piss on the way home from Canada. You lose some money?"
"It's true, Mr. Cruise! I am guilty of gambling! But the Native Americans made me do it. It was some ancient curse, some demon that -"
"Speaking of ancient curses - have you heard about Xenu?"
"No."
"Good. Now, I hear you need some money."
"YES! I DO! Did the cyclops tell you?"
"The...no, that's John Travolta."
"He's a bartender?"
"No. He's a drunk. Look, you want to make some money or not?"
"I don't have to...?" I made a gesture with the hotdog I always keep in my pocket for just such instances.
"Let me just show you."
THE NEXT DAY
"Free personality test!" I yelled at the Japanese tourist.

Everyone wants to be special- Mr. Giustinian

Everyone wants to be special
Everyone wants to be special: we are raised hearing that we are special, we grow fearing we are not
special and one day we realize we really aren't and start to hope we will be.
We never ask ourselves if being 'special' is something that we really want. There are many kinds of
'special' and most of them aren't exactly 'a good way to be special', in the end what we really want is
a purpose, something to justify our existence, something to reassure us that we mean something.
Let's talk about John Kanisky, he was special: he ended up being the only case in human history of a
disease that never affected anyone else, a disease that is beyond rare and that has not even a name,
he died suffering in atrocious ways.
We could talk of Watanabe Keiichi: he was the first direct victim of an atomic bomb explosion.
We could talk of Roy Sullivan: the man was struck seven times in seven different occasions by
lightnings, the man in recorded history struck more times by the fury of Zeus.
We could list many more special humans that we would not desire to emulate in their specialty: if
we sum the grossly special and the tragically special we would realize that the 'happily special' are
so rare that they defy the concept of 'special' and enter into the concept of 'unique'.
Even our legends and folklore narrate of special people that have lived special existences that were
truly horrific: all the chosen by some god or great spirit lived tragic lives, even mundane heroes
became heroes only because they lived special tragedies and, most of them, became heroes in the
moment of their heroic death.
We know that being special is a good way to earn a great deal of suffering, all our history tells us
this truth yet, we still want to be special. Probably on a subconscious level we realize that life is, in
any case, about suffering and it is way better to suffer to be special than to suffer to be nobody.
The question than is: if we want to be special what about the others?
We look at everyone around us and we know, for a fact, that no one is special. We are driven to
consider those not special in a detrimental way, that is why we have heroes, gods, celebrities... they
are special and they are worthier than the masses, we even call them VIPs: Very Important Persons,
meaning that they are important above the others, in other words that they are important and others
aren't.
Now we usually delude ourselves saying “a special person is more important than those not special”
but, deep inside we know that we can't admit that there is no 'more important': you are important or
you are not, if we were to admit this simple truth we would find ourselves in a very difficult spot, so
we just ignore the logical issue and continue our lives trying to be special without worrying of what
this makes of us on an ethical level.
Someone may say “everyone is special”, a good way to avoid the issue of facing how selfish and
deluded we are, that is like saying “everyone is taller” but, in the first case we would appear to be
very empathetic and kind and altruistic, in the second case we would appear like idiots; to a more
accurate analysis we can realize that both sentences are idiotic in the same way and there is nothing
special in idiocy.
Marina wasn't special and, for a change, she didn't even desire to be special, yet she could be
special.
Marina had an average troubled life, if it had to be written in a book the literary genre would be
'contemporary drama', yet there are billions with far worse lives, nevertheless her life was peculiar
in one aspect: someone, against all odds, noticed her.
Marina could have been created by a random generator, one of those found online, or maybe
spawned by a bored writer without talent: she was raised by her mother, she had a troubled youth,
ended up in the hands of social services, then did some time in a reformatory, then did some school
working double shifts, dropped out of school when her mother got ill, ended up in a strip club, then
in a cat fight club, then in hospital, then her mother died, she was evicted, then she lived on the
streets for a couple of months and finally she started to pay the medical bills of her mother and hers

working again double shifts.
She doesn't have friends, worth mentioning, her sentimental life was and is sterile like a desert and
completely meaningless, she drifts through life without expectations, without ambitions, she is a
survivor.
Now the question would be: why talk of her at all? A good question.
As in every good story the protagonist isn't much until something or someone makes him special,
that's usually when the worst begins. For Marina the worst began sometime ago, five years ago to
be precise, when someone was given the task of finding, among the millions living in the area,
someone with the exact profile of Marina.
Marina didn't know that many of her troubles were not of her own making, she didn't know that
someone was making her life even harder, she survived as always.
What will be of her? Once was said that the journey is more important than the destination, I
believe that the journey doesn't mean much until it gets to its intended destination, Marina is in
transit, waiting to reach her unknown destination...

The golf club was empty this early in the morning, only 2 men on a course followed by their
caddies. The sun was bright, no clouds on the sky and the grass was still wet from the morning dew
shining a vivid green. In the distance the skyscrapers were like gigantic monoliths of glass
reflecting the blue of the sky and the burning solar globe, a mythic aura surrounded them, a sort of
reminiscent feeling of the lost stone age when wise men raised similar structures inspiring awe and
devotion into the unwise.
“Thank you sir for this game.”
“Don't mention it, I come here every Monday before going to work, I heard you liked golf and I told
myself I could relax and have a chat with a promising man.”
“Well I like the game but I am not exactly good at it...”
“Don't worry! This game is so boring and stupid that the only sport in this is to walk with a stick in
hand while someone else runs around getting the balls.”
The first man was in his thirties, lean, perfectly trimmed, perfect posture, he was an handsome man,
in his eyes a mix of anticipation and fear.
The second man was slightly overweight, almost sixty years old, with a bald patch on his head and
grayish hairs like a bay wreath around his head, he could have played the roman senator in any
movie.
“So how are you faring in the new office?”
“Well sir, when I arrived I expected to be put in some kind of under stair, a closet or such, an office
is an extremely welcome surprise!”
“That office is so small you have to watch what you eat son, put on a few pounds and you will need
a ton of lube to get inside and those two sharing it with you are the kind of people you want to stay
light years away from.”
“Mmm, why should I stay away from them? Not that I have a choice anyway...”
“Because they stink of failure son.” The older man stopped and turned to face the younger one.
“They are paper pushers, they have taken roots inside that moldy office, if you stay too much with
them the stink of mediocrity will stick to you for the rest of your life! I hope you have some
ambition son!”
“Yes sir, I consider myself ambitious...”
“Good!” the older man resumed his walk toward the next course, “Ambition is good, it's what
differentiate man from worms. You have potential.”
“Thank you sir.”
“Your curriculum is spotless, you advanced quickly, so quickly that you had to do dirty things for
sure.” The man placed a ball meticulously, took the club and got into position rising and lowering

his eyes between the ball and the hole trying to judge the distance, the wind and the perfect
trajectory to his goal.
“I was only lucky, I always...”
“Don't bullshit me son, I was in your shoes once: you do what you have to do to get on top, to move
up the ladder. If needed you pull down the one above you, you cheat and say the right things, lick
the right ass and if needed you give your ass or mouth to the right person. That is ambition!” The
man stroke the ball with a mighty swing, as to underline his words.
“Well sir, I am here.” The younger man smiled, he was gambling but he was confident.
The older man laughed, his belly vibrating under the shirt.
“Yes you are son.” he patted on the back of the younger man. “Yes you are! Well let's talk of serious
stuff.
You have potential and I know potential when I see it, there's a spot for someone like you, you
aren't like all the others, you are like me! Well you are like me when I was your age, you have a
great distance to cover before you can be like me.
What do you say? Do you want to get to the upper floor?”
The young man placed with care his ball mimicking the older man, he was good at noticing how
people move and talk, how they think and especially what they expect from others.
“Yes sir, I am astonished that I have been noticed so quickly and from a man like yourself.”
“Good, keep at it, I like the feeling of a tongue between my buttocks.” The man laughed “Anyway
tomorrow you get to the upper floor, remember you can do great things if you stick by me, I have
great plans for you if you keep up the good job!”
“Thank you sir.” He stroke the ball with a mighty swing.

“I'll split the eights.”
The casino wing of the Faestus was, as always, filled with people playing and throwing away their
fortunes, waitresses moved professionally between the tables and the slot machines bringing trays
with spumante, champagne, wine and cocktails to the customers. The lights of the games and the
electronic sounds mixed with the laughs and cheers of the players were creating the unique concert
typical of the casinos, the air was perfumed with scents specifically and scientifically designed to
excite the mind and push customers to spend more money.
The man was seated at a black jack table, dressed with a fine suite he was in his forties, he was
quite inebriated and his face was red with both excitement and alcohol.
He was the chief analyst of the finance board of a bank: his job was to tell the difference between a
good investment and a bad one, predicting the odds of a gain or a loss, judging were money was
likely going to flow, who was likely to be ruined or become rich, who was worth something and
who was worth nothing, a gambler by trade and vocation.
He had won a premium promotional ticket for a VIP night at the Faestus with five thousand dollars
to spend in the casino. He always believed he was a winner and when the promotional tickets
arrived at the bank he was sure he was going to win and now he was sure he would have left the
Faestus with a good amount of free cash in his pockets.
He had worked hard, endured much, God knows how much money he gained for others, now the
wheel of fortune was turning in his favor, the blind mistress of fate was smiling and he didn't want
to disappoint.
“The dealer goes bust.”
He exploded in a volcanic cheer, from the deepest of his chest his lungs contracted so quickly that
his head felt light and dizzy. He was winning!
“Thank you, I think I'll take a break.”
The man was smiling so much, he couldn't help it: his cheeks were pulling his mouth on their own
volition, he thought to himself 'I must look like an idiot' and the thought made him smile even
harder. He seated on a stool at one of the many bars, waved his premium pass and ordered a

Negroni, one last cocktail for the winner, the night was still young and he had already drank a lot,
wouldn't be wise to spoil the night puking his soul in the bathroom.
Two beautiful girls joined him at the bar: they were a mix of sensuality and grace with just the
promise of kinky thoughts in their smiles.
“Hello, what are you drinking?”
“This? A Negroni I believe, I don't know what's inside it but it's good.”
“Well then a Negroni for both of us.”
The bartender quickly served the drinks, the two girls payed in cash with a hundred dollars bill.
“We arrived in town just two days ago, this hotel is fantastic! We still have much to explore but we
would like to see the city too. Are you a local?”
“Yes, I live here. I mean not here in the hotel, in the city...”
“Wonderful! So you can guide us to the local attractions!”
“Uh... Well yes. There is much to see. Were are you from?”
“We are from Russia. Her dad and mine are on a business trip and we tagged along.”
“To dads' business trips then!” He rose his glass to toast.
This truly was his night! Two beautiful girls in search of adventure, a wallet exploding with cash
and a VIP pass for all the extra luxurious facilities of the most exclusive hotel/resort of the city!

The night was humid, a light rain was falling on the city, on the cars small pearls of water
shimmered under the city's lights.
Jason was seated on the front passenger seat of his patrol car, his partner driving into the traffic and
chewing an energetic bar.
“You know what? I should ask her out.” Jason's partner was one of those body building zealots,
always on a strict diet and always pumping their muscles, to Jason those kind of people reminded
him of some kind of religious fanatics, fanatics of the Muscle God.
“Why not? She is single, she seems nice enough.”
“Yeah, I thought about it and who cares? Right? What's the worst that could happen? If she says 'no'
it's not going to be the end of the world! I have plenty already to entertain my schwarzie... It's only
that I would love to fuck her you know...”
Jason couldn't care less but, that was his partner and you support your partner, no matter what.
“With your muscles and charms I am sure she will not resist.”
The patrol car waved in and out in the traffic moving quickly into a part of the town were police is
notoriously unwelcome. Hostile gazes followed the car from the sidewalks.
“And here we are...” Jason's partner pulled over in front of a pawn shop.
The shop's window was behind an iron grate, on display various baubles, plates, chinas, even
musical instruments and toys.
The two cops got out of the car and strode toward the entrance.
Jason wasn't a small guy, he was well built and fit but, compared to the amass of muscles of his
partner he appeared almost insignificant.
The door bell rang as the two entered into the shop, rows of scaffoldings filled the small room, the
air was tick with the smell of grease, rubber and dust.
Behind the counter a fat sweaty middle aged bald man raised his head from a clock he was intent
fixing: he had strange glasses on his face with many lenses and what appeared to be some kind of
magnifying apparatus, in his hands small metal tools completed the look of the mad doctor intent
into some kind of terrible experiment on a living and unwilling subject. The man visibly became
paler has he saw the two cops, his sweating increased.
“Good evening my friend.” Jason's partner walked over the counter passing his hand on various
objects on display.
“Hello officers, how may I help you?”
“Timothy you know what we want, it's that day of the month.”
Jason surveyed the room, peeking behind the scaffoldings and the counter to check for trouble,

when he was satisfied he started to get a look at the merchandise.
“Already? Sorry I lost track of time...”
“Ha! That is why you are messing with that clock?”
“Oh, yes, exactly... hehehe...” The owner laughter was so strained that probably his conscious brain
was fighting an epic battle against his reptilian brain that was screaming 'RUN!'.
“So, you know the drill, as they say in the army, it is time to pay.”
“Officer... I am... I...”
“Hey Timothy, do I look like I give a fuck? 'I-I-I-I-I am' what the fuck man!”
“Yes, well, I know that I shouldn't but, you see... I have been in a tough spot of late... I was
wondering if I could pay you the next month...”
“Timothy do I look like a charitable man?” Jason's partner grabbed the shirt of Timothy pulling him
over the counter, his strange glasses fell and clanked; meanwhile Jason found something interesting:
a nice big teddy bear of 40cm, his daughter would have loved it.
“Listen officer there's no need to get angry, I'll pay I'll pay!”
“Good.” Jason's partner released the owner that quickly ran to the cash register, fumbling with his
hands he took a handful of bills and trembling he put it on the counter, Jason's partner casually
picked up the ball of cash and pocketed it.
“Wasn't so hard eh? See you next month Timothy.”
“How much for the teddy bear?” Jason was holding the stuffed animal and looked like a normal
customer, both Timothy and his partner had a puzzled look and were looking incredulously.
“What? Can't I buy it?” Jason seemed completely out of place.
“Yes officer, well for you is free, a present you know, thank you.”
“If you insist, thank you Timothy.”
Both cops went back into the patrol car, Jason carefully put the teddy bear on the back seat.
To passersby the scene must have been comical: two cops arresting a giant teddy bear.
“That Timothy is getting bolder and bolder, I don't like it. Next month we need to break a thing or
two, just to remind him his place.”
“I expected you to punch him, better now than later, if he gets the idea we are getting soft things are
going to get ugly.” Jason was distant, in his mind he was already at home giving the teddy bear to
his daughter, he was excited to see his little princess jumping around hugging the stuffed animal.
“Yeah, maybe you are right... well next month... It's nice that bear you know? How's your family
man?”
Jason sighed “Mary is recovering, thank God the therapy is over, the doctors say she will be fine
and she only needs to take a few pills and get checked every six months. My little princess is
growing restless, with her mother feeling better she is now full of energies and almost trying to
recover the time lost with her.”
“I'm happy to hear that partner. I was scared shitless when you told me she had cancer.”
“Yeah... well it's over now, I plan to try to take some vacation from work as soon as she regains her
strength.”
“You do, you need to relax man, you have earned it.”
Jason was finally home: the house wasn't much but was a proper house of a respectable family, the
garden on the front was a little bit wild but soon he would have had time to fix it.
He parked and got out, took the teddy bear and went to the door, he rang the bell and knelt behind
the bear.
The door opened and Lucy froze, her eyelids beating quickly at the unexpected bear, than she
launched herself on the stuffed animal.
“Daddy!”
Jason hugged both the bear and his daughter and rose on his feet: “My sweet special princess!”

The SUV was moving fast, the woosh of passing streetlights was the only sound.
Mr. Costanzo was seated in the passenger seat, thinking, remembering. It was unusual for him to

dwell on the past, he was a man of action not a reflexive type, yet in the last few months he had
been so busy that his brain was now finding some relax in his memories.
He came from an humble family, grew in a difficult neighbourhood and risked a couple of times to
end up in jail, the call to serve in the military had been a blessing: he learned discipline and found
structure, when the time came he decided to stay and joined the special forces, there his nature
wasn't a flaw but a resource, they nurtured his aggressiveness and taught him so much.
After his first tour of duty on foreign soil he distinguished himself and was promoted and decorated,
after the second one he was politely asked to resign to avoid issues with the press and public
opinion after some ugly necessary operations.
As soon as he arrived back home he immediately found work for a local family and again his skills
and nature made him the top killer around. One day he received a work offer from a big shark and
since then his life changed, he now was a supernatural killer, one of the best.
He was shot at countless times, he was stabbed, beaten but, he never surrendered, he never took
anything personally, was just part of his life to be a target for someone, the life of a predator is
about killing or be killed, everything he was, everything he had he gained it through excellency in
one of the oldest arts of humanity: murder.
He once taught that he was wrong, some kind of monster or nature's mistake, with time he realized
that nature had put a lot of effort to forge him, evolution gave him the tools to excel and he
embraced his gifts. Civilized hypocrites shun those like him, they call them psychos, deranged but,
when they were needed to protect the weak, to kill to protect the weak, they became heroes, after
civilization used those heroes they quickly locked them away. Not him though. He found someone
that appreciated his gifts, his skills and even gave him tools to improve them.
This war was exciting, intriguing, so many enemies, so many dangers, so many chances to excel, to
do what he was born to do.
